I think I will stick with in-person meetings and examinations of the product before personally handing over the cash in hand.īeware scammers who advertise on other sites and tell you that the transaction will be handled through eBay. I hope this can help anyone make their own decision and decide for themselves, but as far as I'm concerned I wouldn't trust any transactions on OfferUp or Craigslist that try and go through eBay for payment. I don't think eBay would do transactions of any product not listed on their site, it just didn't seem practical. To be frank, I did not think it was wise to proceed any further and upon looking into it a bit more i decided to call it. At first it seemed legit and I proceeded to read the email, then I noticed that they wanted payment through "eBay Cards, BestBuy & OneVanilla" of which I thought was a bit fishy. I ended up receiving an email from something called "eBay Motors" confirming that the owner "registered me as a potential buyer". After a sort of sob story about a divorce and a settlement, they proceeded to ask me for my name, address, and phone number (of which I gave them false information just to see what would happen next). I came across a 2009 Nissan Maxima SV with 46,890miles and immediately sent the owner an email.
